Berrien Dems Voter Protection Launch with Chris Thomas & Thomas Luckett

The Berrien County Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Team is kicking off the 2026 election season and you’re invited to be part of it. Join us on April 21, 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM for this informational virtual event. 

Whether you’re a returning to the voter protection team, brand new, or curious about serving as an election worker, this is your opportunity to learn how you can help defend democracy at the ballot box.

What is Voter Protection?

Voter Protection is the work of ensuring every eligible voter can cast their ballot safely, securely, and without interference. There are several ways you can get involved:

We will hear from Attorney Christopher Thomas, former State Director of the Bureau of Elections for the Michigan Secretary of State for 36 years. He was appointed by President Obama as a Commissioner to the Presidential Commission on Election Administration. Chris has a professional commitment to ensuring election integrity both as a process and a result for the voter.

Also joining us will be Attorney Thomas Luckett, Voter Protection Director for the Michigan Democratic Party. Thomas has been on the MDP Voter Protection team since 2022 and has a long-standing interest in voting rights and voter protection. He will provide updates on Voter Protection opportunities, trainings and issues relating to be a poll challenger in the upcoming elections.

With growing conversations around election integrity, this event will give you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make a real impact. Together, we protect the vote. Together, we defend democracy.
