Black History Celebration with BCDP

Black History Celebration
Honoring the Past. Powering the Future.
Change doesn’t happen behind closed doors—it happens when people show up, get curious, and connect.
The Berrien County Democratic Party invites you to our Black History Celebration that honors the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. We invite everyone to come, bring your family and friends and join in a fun, hands-on event that celebrates how that legacy continues to shape the work for justice today —because Black History is American History.
Join us on Sunday, February 15 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the BCDP Office for an open-house style event designed for neighbors, families, and first-time visitors alike. Come and go as you like, bring your kids, meet new people, and experience the BCDP as a space for learning, connection, and community power.
What’s Happening
Throughout the celebration, guests of all ages can jump into hands-on activities that spark creativity and conversation. Add your voice to our “I Have a Dream” Wall, explore displays highlighting Black leaders and movements—from the Civil Rights era to today—and enjoy refreshments while you look around.
Stop by the Justice & Democracy Button Bar to design your own buttons with messages of justice, voting rights, community pride, and powerful quotes from Black leaders—perfect to wear, share, and start conversations.
Capture the moment at our Mission Possible Photo Booth and visit the Voices of the Community reflection station to share what Black history means to you and why local action matters here in Berrien County.
Ready to turn inspiration into action? Head to the Take Action Station to sign up to volunteer, check or update your voter registration, write postcards or letters to elected officials, and make thank-you cards for election workers—simple, meaningful ways to get involved right on the spot.
Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for a local food pantry. Registration is not required, but encouraged.
This celebration is about energy, community, and forward motion. It’s a chance to connect, create, and see how history turns into action right here at home. Step inside, bring your curiosity, and experience how community power shows up in Berrien County.
This is where history, community, and action meet—don’t miss it.
