ABOUT THE CANDIDATE (learn more at suzannashkreli.com)

 Born in Livonia and raised in Farmington Hills and then Clarkston, Suzanna Shkreli is a first-generation American of Albanian heritage. Her parents came to the United States as children to escape authoritarianism in the former Yugoslavia and to build a better life here in Michigan. 

 Growing up, Suzanna learned the value of hard work — and good customer service — from her parents. She worked in the family restaurant alongside her three siblings, stocking shelves and serving customers. Carrying that work ethic into everything she did, Suzanna played competitive ice hockey from the age of five through high school. 

 After graduating college in just three years, Suzanna went straight to law school and then joined the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, where she served for nearly eight years. As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney she spent half her tenure in the Child Protection Unit, securing convictions against child predators, abusers, and murderers — delivering justice for vulnerable children. 

 In 2019, Suzanna was appointed Deputy Legal Counsel in Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration, working on a wide range of issues, including coordinating with the Secretary of State’s office to ensure the safe and lawful meeting of Michigan’s electors in December 2020.
